Galata Tower was orginally built in 1348 by Genoese. Genoese used to look out for their approaching commercial ships as well as for enemies. Galata Tower is still intact today. It used sometimes as a warehouse and sometimes as a prison by the Ottomans. If you pay a small fee you can climb to the observation platform where you can see magnificant view of Istanbul.
How to Go The Galata Tower?
You can walk from Taksim square the road of Istiklal Street or you can go from Tophane in Karaköy to Taksim.
